Small Gully is the label of renowned wine maker Stephen Black and his sons. Producing wines of a distinctive bold and intense Barossa style with great expression of fruit character which reflects the region and meticulous vineyard management.
They needed a website that was clear, passionate, and bold; reflective of the Black family.

Colour Palette.

To create a colour palette that was driven by earthy tones, but without seeming old fashioned. We created a main colour that was a reflective of the old shiraz skins with a hint of earthy brown. Around this we matched it with a slightly lighter version of the same colour as well as an olive green to give it a splash of life.

Finally, to freshen each of the colours, we decided to make the base colour a clean white, with light grey elements.

Typography.

We didn’t want anything too fancy when it came to typography. We wanted the colour and imagery to bring the character, with the typography to be simple and understated.

Montserrat, a google font, was the perfect fit. Sharp edges, straight lines, even curves. It’s a font that is very easy to read on any device.

Goal.
To create a website that highlights the passion and personality of the people behind Small Gully Wines, while making it easy to discover their extensive range of wines.
Result.
We created a website that is earthy, yet light and clean. By using feature imagery and video we were able to tell the story of the people behind Small Gully. The individual wine pages were designed to give each an individual touch. While the menu system makes it easy to navigate through the different wine series that are on offer.
